How VisPro Dive Works

Divability is a concept unique to VisPro Dive that measures how good conditions are for diving at a specific location right now. It's different from just looking at visibility—it considers multiple environmental factors that affect your experience in the water. Visibility is one key component of divability, but it's not the only one. A site might have poor visibility but excellent conditions for a particular activity. Divability gives you a complete picture of whether NOW is a good time to go diving at that specific location.

Alongside Divability, every site gets a Water Clarity Score — a simple 0–100 rating of how far you'll actually be able to see underwater on the day. Higher is clearer. Clarity is shaped by a mix of things working together: recent rain and runoff, how much the sea has been stirred up, plankton activity, and the character of the site itself. A deep offshore reef and a river-mouth estuary respond completely differently to the same weather, so each site is treated on its own terms. You'll also see a short "optical driver" note that tells you the main reason clarity is good or poor today — so the number always comes with the why behind it.

Each dive site in VisPro Dive is carefully created with detailed information about: • Location & Depth: Precise coordinates and depth ranges for planning • Site Characteristics: Reef structure, marine life, and hazards specific to that location • Environmental Sensitivity: How rainfall, swell, and wind direction affect that particular site—because every location is unique • Ideal Conditions: The wind direction, swell size, and tide that make that site shine Our team continuously updates these profiles as we learn more from diver reports and observations. When you submit a site report after diving, you're contributing real-world data that helps us refine our understanding of each location.

Not everyone wants to read charts. That's why each site also gets a plain-English Conditions Briefing — a short, readable rundown of what to expect, like a local dive guide's take on the day. In a sentence or two it tells you whether it's worth going, what the surface and water clarity are likely to be like, and what's driving conditions today. It's built from the same live forecast that powers the scores. Everything refreshes regularly through the day, so checking shortly before you head out always gives you the most current picture.

Not all dive sites are created equal. A site in a sheltered bay responds completely differently to wind than an exposed reef. A river mouth estuary is heavily influenced by rainfall, while a deep offshore site barely notices it. That's why we profile each location individually—so our forecasts reflect the real conditions YOU'LL experience. A generic "wind forecast" is useful, but "what does a northerly wind actually mean at this specific reef?" is what helps you make the right decision.

VisPro Dive gets better every time you use it. Reports from real divers are checked against what we predicted, and consistent patterns are used to gently calibrate each site over time.
